Jesus knew that Peter would fail. Marty Goulding reminds us that even though we fail, all of our failures to meet God’s standards are paid in full when Jesus said “It is finished” on the cross. He speaks on how Jesus warns Peter about his denial and prays for him, then seeks to restore him afterwards. Because Peter was willing to turn to Jesus instead of using his own ways to deal with his remorse (like Judas Iscariot), Peter goes on to become a bold advocate for Jesus with the ability to heal (by the Holy Spirit) and helped build up the early church.
