Through King Nebuchadnezzar, God displays his sovereignty. (Daniel) The king had a dream that only Daniel could recite and explain, with God’s power. In response to the dream, Nebuchadnezzar builds a golden statue in protestation of his ideal everlasting kingdom and orders that everyone should worship the image. Daniel and his friends do not obey this command and are thrown into a furnace, where God saves them. The king acknowledges in both instances that God is ultimately more powerful than the gods in his culture. God displays His power and control over situations that occur in Nebuchadnezzar life that compels him to accept God as his God.
